Infant Massage + Parent Focused Yoga (5 weeks)

from CA$125.00

It’s more than a massage + yoga, trust us.

Infant massage has been studied and practiced for decades and has been shown to help stimulate babies to support them in their development and growth. This technique also assists in relaxing and soothing babies, especially those experiencing colic or other challenging temperaments. Pssst… a massaged/stimulated baby is more likely to soothe faster, sleep more and gain faster.

Adding a short and simple, proven massage technique into your daily routine has proven to greatly benefit babies development and temperament. Learn to better bond and connect with your baby and your local village/community in 5 weeks of one hour sessions. IAIM’s technique is best learned when your little one is 12 months old or younger.

Yoga allows us to deeply connect with your bodies at all stages of life. Tending to the needs of our growing, healing bodies in the postpartum period, regardless of how far into the journey you are. Making time and space for your own needs and helping to support your mind and body in grounding and regulating will benefit your whole family, but most importantly, you.

Massage will be led by Courtney Jenkins, a local doula and certified trainer with the International Association of Infant Massage. Access community and peer support while bonding with your little one and finding an excuse to leave the house on those lonely, boring days.

Yoga will be led by Vanessa Murphy, a co-owner of Balance on the Bay, the space hosting our class. Vanessa began practicing yoga over 15 years ago and became a certified teacher 10 years ago. In that time she's expanded her knowledge in Ayurveda, vedanta, mantra and pre/post natal practice. She's taught a wide range of classes and believes that yoga is for everyone and a studio should be inviting. Vanessa completed her YTT in Indonesia, under Sky Akasha, in the style of Sama Yoga. Sama is Sanskrit for balance and the concept of balance is weaved into each class.

Yoga is completely baby friendly, with support of Courtney to allow you to focus on your practice should you choose. All bodies and experience levels are welcome in this space, always.

All families who attend this class will receive handouts to complete massage in their daily lives along with a custom massage oil, and a small gift to remind you of this time and space together following our closing ritual at the end of the five weeks.
